Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) Fabrication and Installation
Our SMP division delivers integrated solutions across structural steel, mechanical equipment, and process piping. We fabricate, assemble, and install complex systems for a range of sectors including oil & gas, mining, hydrogen, and infrastructure.

- Fabrication and erection of structural steel to AS/NZS 1554, AS 4100, and AS/NZS 5131
- Mechanical equipment installation including rotating and static equipment
- Process and utility piping installed to AS1554.1, AS1554.6, AS 4041, ASME B31.3, and
B31.12 for hydrogen service
- Modular skids, pipe racks, and pre-assembled plant systems
- QA/QC documentation including ITPs, MDRs, weld traceability, and commissioning

Specialist Welding Services
Whatever the scope of your welding or fabrication project, we can take it on. Specialising in the oil/gas petrochemical, power generation, and mining industries, our experienced team have a proven track record in the most demanding and aggressive environments.
We use a range of welding processes, including MMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and GMAW. Some of our specialist methods are MMAW cellulosic and low hydrogen vertical down pipeline welding, orbital GTAW, and hydrogen controlled semi-automatic RMD/STT.
Weld Procedure Development and Qualification
We can work with you to develop weld procedures and act as independent specialists on your welding and fabrication projects. This includes creating Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and helping you gain a Weld Procedure Qualification Record (PQR).
Welding Supervision and Inspection Services
PWA employs a number of Cert 10 welding supervisors to oversee our own projects as well as to support project execution and quality management on behalf of our Clients.
Pipeline and Facilities Construction
We are highly-specialised in pipeline construction, having been contracted on many large projects, Australia-wide. We’ve worked on all types of pipeline fabrication from basic straight spools to highly complex configurations for both low and high-pressure applications.
We also provide maintenance of pipelines and a full range of repair and modification services, including in-services welding, that can be applied to offshore or onshore projects. We also offer timely pipeline emergency response, critical in high-risk industries.

PWA supplies the equipment required to execute pipeline installation including welding machines, welding rigs, clamps, welding habitats.

Pipe Spooling
We produce high-precision pipe spools for a wide range of fluid and gas systems, including high-pressure hydrogen service. Our advanced workshops and welding processes enable rapid, high-quality output for both standard and specialty materials.
